Comedy, crime
‘Tschugger’ revolves around the Valais police officer Bax (David Constantin), who has his best days behind him. His last success, which brought him media attention and the status of a police hero, was years ago. His girlfriend has also left him. His police partner Pirmin (Dragan Vujic) is not cool enough for him. He would rather work for a special unit of the federal police – and believes that Annette Brotz (Anna Rossinelli), who has been ordered to Valais by the Fedpol, is here to recruit him for it. In short: for Bax, the world is a projection screen of his own inadequacy.
Bax acts as if he were the protagonist in a Hollywood movie. With his overzealousness to catch the next big case, he gives his colleagues cause for some ridicule. Until he and the whole police station – especially the Zurich intern Smetterling (Cedric Schild) – fall into chaos. (Robin Schwarz, filmbulletin, 1.12.2021)
